lyyyyyyds! i foooound u! *lol* hurray for a new layout..... as temporary as this is meant to be i'm gonna say that i like it! simple and timelessly elegant. ^.^

as for your question..... hrm. at the risk of sounding shamelessly cliche, prayer is talking to God. it's what we've been taught since we were little, right? i dunno. honestly, i'm still finding out abt this myself, b/c if prayer really is "just" talking, i'm finding it hard to do........

I think (i interpret the Bible to mean) Prayer is Worship. It is essentially about coming spiritually prostrate and bowing down before God (the literal meaning of the Hebrew word for Worship) and acknowledging Him as the sufficient provider for all our needs and desires.

So, yes, God knows all our requests, and yes, we still should pray. But this means that Prayer is not at essence about requests. God answers Prayer not to show a cause and effect relation but to Glorify Himself by showing that He has Sovereignly created a world with a big correlation between giving our goals and desires to God in prayer and seeing them fulfilled. This is why Christ says that we can ask anything in His name and it will be given to us to Glorify Him.

More could be said about an emphasis on praise and an emphasis on seeking His will as seen in Christ's prayers (ex. The Lord's Prayer) but alas, i am getting tired of writing.

Also notable is that Paul promises that if we give all things to Him in prayer, we will receive a peace that transcends all understanding in Christ Jesus.

so yes.. in conclusion: Prayer in Worship.
