neon bible.
Well, it's been a couple of days since Arcade Fire's new album, Neon Bible, was released. So, I thought I would post about it briefly.
I have been thoroughly enjoying this album. It is no new news that I quite enjoy Arcade Fire. This album leaves me feeling musically satisfied. What a talented group of people!
This album poses a bit of a moral dilemma for me, I won't lie. There are many digs and the whole album holds a pretty cynical and satirical view towards the church. I'm not sure how I feel about this; I dislike the cheap jabs hidden behind the lyrics, but I am thoroughly enjoying the talent.
Hmm.

I understand what you are saying. I'm still unsure how Win and Regine view the church. I think this may be one of their tactics to draw people deeper into the music. I'm yet to read an article when they explain one of their songs. Like, is "Intervention" about people doing things out of the wrong motivation? Or is this their overarching view of people involved with the church? Sorry for long comment.
hm. i understand this dilemma, although i haven't got this album yet...it's a tricky one.
also, random perhaps relevant trivia? tim kingsbury comes from some sort of church background. his family and mine were friends back in the day, and i obviously don't know the whole family situ, but am pretty sure his parents are/were christians/churchgoers. so i wonder what his thoughts are these days.
hmm these are both interesting comments.
i like.
wow i totally thought it came out earlier. i've been listening to the album since the end of january. It leaked onto the internet back then and i figured hey! i'm going to buy the CD anyways, i'll just listen to it earlier....
but yeah definitely interesting comments on the church. although i can't really say that some of his lines are untrue for some... "workin for the church while your family dies" sounds all too familiar to me, sadly!
